Literally the BEST question you could ever ask me is, “Can we bring our fur-child with us to our engagement session?” THE ANSWER IS ALWAYS YES!!

Seriously! I love involving the WHOLE fam in your engagement session. Your pups are a huge part of your life, and sometimes you really want to make sure to document that!

Here are some tips for bringing your pet to your engagement session to make everything seamless and fun!

Tip #1: Always leash up! Keeping pup on a leash the WHOLE session is so important for the safety of your pup, even if we’re alone at our location. You never know what can happen or who/what could walk by and we want to make sure our session is just FUN!

Tip #2: Bring LOTS of treats! Think of your pup like a stubborn toddler who must be bribed to sit still 🤣 Bringing lots of treats is the best way to get your pup to cooperate. Holding a treat right by my camera is the best way to get them to look right at me and give us those puppy-dog eyes we all love.

Tip #3: Don’t worry if they won’t pose! If your pup won’t sit still or isn’t easily bribed, it’s OKAY! My favorite shots sometimes are just the candid ones where you guys are all interacting with each other. Those are like a snapshot of REAL LIFE and sometimes those are the most special!

Tip #4: Bring a designated helping hand. I really recommend bringing an extra person along so that way they can take pup for a little while when we want to take some of just the two of you. They can go on a little walk so we can get some distraction-free pictures of just the two lovebirds!

Tip #5: Remember to still have fun! Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in the whole “Are they looking at the camera enough?” “Are they going to sit still?” “Why do they keep barking?” Don’t worry about any of that and just have fun! That’s what this is all about after all!
